Tinder Success Story

My husband and I matched on Tinder in December of 2015 and we got married in 2019. I was adamantly not looking for anything serious as I had just gotten out of an 8 year abusive relationship. He was different from the other guys on the app from the first night. I remember his bio said “just a regular gentleman looking for a lady to make my queen”. It was completely different than all the other bios about hooking up and sports. He was incredibly respectful, sweet and genuinely interested in how my day was. Therefore, I was completely terrified and blew him off for 10 days straight. I was nervous to allow myself to have any feelings so our first few dates I got incredibly drunk or showed up with a buzz already. Eventually it was easy for me to see that this man was truly different. The thing that really struck me was how patient he was; I would barely allow him to hold my hand and he never complained. This mans love language is physical touch, and he waited months for me to be comfortable. I set boundaries with him and he respected me which allowed me to open up and eventually trust him. With online dating, I felt it was important for me to take my time and know myself, and what I was comfortable with so potential matches weren’t able to blur the lines and cross any of my boundaries.
